Allena Tapia

Communications and Marketing Consultant Allena Tapia provides services through GardenWall Publications, a boutique marcom agency centered in Lansing, Michigan, but serving clients worldwide. She started her communications career with positions as a publicity writer, a marketing writer and a project assistant, serving as a full time employee within offices at both Michigan State University and Lansing Community College, but left the cube to freelance full time in 2006. She built GardenWall Publications from scratch with just one client, and was turning a profit within 6 months. Within just a couple years, GWP began contracting with companies, websites, publishers and magazines such as the New York Times', Huffington Post, BITCH magazine, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Gale Cengage, Hispanic Executive magazine, and Latino Leaders magazine.

"The day I decided to pursue full time freelance writing, I had a sheaf of papers in my fist--about 50 pages of freelance writing jobs. I told my husband 'Look, the jobs are out there. I know they are. I just need the time to pursue them!' He finally agreed with me, and I took the plunge. Now, it wasn't easy, and there was a lot of trial and error, but I learned what works and what doesn't, and am very proud of my thriving writing business and the credits I've accumulated. I want to tell other people how it happened for me. I truly believe it's a viable career. I love serving my clients and helping them meet their goals, and potential clients are encouraged to contact me at GardenWall Publications." (~Allena Tapia)

When not writing, Allena can be found being a soccer mom, running 5Ks or traveling to a family home in the mountains of Mexico. She currently lives in an historic Victorian home in a small town outside Lansing with one patient husband, two easy children, a cousin/student from Mexico, two dogs, three cats, and two guinea pigs. Future plans include fewer pets and more writing.
