College Technology and Business Resume Example
The following is an example of a recent college graduate’s resume. The job seeker is looking for a position in business and technology. The experiences she lists include internships, summer jobs, on-campus jobs, and coursework. Including experiences other than full-time jobs allows you to showcase the skills you have developed through school, part-time work, and unpaid activities.

Tips for Writing a College Graduate Resume
Use keywords. Your resume should demonstrate you have the skills and abilities for the particular job you’re applying for. One way to do this is to include keywords from the job listing in your resume. For example, if the job listing states the applicant needs “technological skills,” emphasize those skills in your resume. You can even use the phrase “technological skills” in the resume, perhaps in a resume summary (if you include one) or as a section title. Using words from the listing will show the applicant that you have what it takes to do the job.
Include all relevant experience. As a student, you might not have a lot of work experience. You can include any relevant experience, even if it was unpaid. For example, you can include relevant coursework, extracurricular activities, volunteer work, and unpaid internships. Employers will expect you to have limited experience as a student or recent student, so you can feel confident using these examples. Just make sure to clearly explain how each experience provided you with skills or abilities that connect to the job you’re applying for.
Create relevant section headings. Rather than listing all of your experience in a general “Experience” section, you might consider creating multiple sections. For example, if you are applying for a job in business and technology, you might include “Business Experience” and “Technology Experience” sections. Then, you can include an “Other Experience” section that includes work that is less directly related. Put the section with the most relevant experience towards the top of the resume.
Include a skills list. Consider adding a skills section in your resume to demonstrate your abilities. If the job requires a particular skill set, you can have a section that lists all the skills you have in that category. For example, if a job requires computer skills, you can include a “Computer Skills” section.
Edit, edit, edit. Be sure to thoroughly revise your resume before sending it. Proofread the document for any spelling or grammar errors. Consider making an appointment at your college career services office to have a career counselor revise your resume too. Even if you already graduated, most career services offices provide services to alumni.
