Dawn Rosenberg McKay, Career Planning Specialist

Dawn Rosenberg McKay is the career planning expert for The Balance Careers. She is a certified Career Development Facilitator and member of the National Career Development Association. In addition to writing for the DotDash/About.com network since 1997, she is the author of several books on career planning, job searching, and civil service test preparation. Dawn has been quoted extensively in both online and offline publications including PayScale, The New York Times, Vice, Newsday, U.S. News & World Report, Rewire, Prevention, and New Jersey Family.

Experience

Dawn began working in the career development field in 1990. She was Coordinator of the Job and Education Information Center at Hempstead Public Library in New York for several years. She is currently the Career Development Specialist at the Bryant Library, also in New York. Dawn provides counseling to clients who are going through career transitions. She assists them with career choice and change, resume writing, job interview preparation, and workplace problem resolution.

Dawn is the author of The Everything Practice Interview Book (1st and 2nd editions), The Everything Job Interview Question Book, and The Everything Get-a-Job Book, all published by Adams Media. She also co-authored several civil service test preparation books including Postal Clerk and Carrier Exams (1st and 2nd editions), published by Pearson Education and Federal Civil Service Jobs,  published by Peterson's.

Education

Dawn completed the Career Development Facilitator Certificate program at Hofstra University. She also earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Hofstra and a Master's Degree in Library Science from Queen's College, City University of New York.
