Emma Newcombe has studied and written job search and career advice for over seven years. She contributed to The Balance for a little over five years. In the past, she has written and published articles on job search advice for students and college graduates, as well as a range of other topics related to the job hunting process.

Today, Newcombe resides in Boston, Massachusetts. She is a guest lecturer at Boston University where she teaches several courses in the writing program. In addition, Newcombe serves as the education and alumni coordinator at Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Prior to taking on a career focused on advancing other people's careers, Newcombe studied American studies and English at Skidmore College, and also received a PhD from Boston University.
