The Apple At-Home program, which is part of the company's AppleCare support department,  hires both college students and non-students for full- and part-time positions as phone and chat  reps. In Rhode Island it hires mostly non-students. Apple hires employees (as opposed to contractors) to offer customer service and tech support. Apple provides a computer and phone, but there may be other costs for the employee in starting a home office.
