About.com Law Practice Management expert Lori Tripoli is an attorney and writer who has been covering lawyers, the business of law, and noteworthy litigation for more than two decades. Here, she will address the practical realities of today’s legal business: hiring, firing, promoting, marketing, planning, purchasing, evaluating, financing, supervising, strategizing, communicating, competing, achieving — and how to do it all with a chipper attitude.
Lori has written hundreds of articles on the legal industry for mainstream publications as well as for trade periodicals. Her book, Contemporary Law Office Management, was published by Aspen/Wolters Kluwer. As an academic department chair at Kaplan University where she oversees the Master of Science in Legal Studies program and the undergraduate and graduate environmental policy and management programs, she supervises 40-plus instructors, the majority of whom are lawyers. Lori earned a Juris Doctorate from the Georgetown University Law Center and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the George Washington University. What she didn’t learn in law school about running a business and supervising a team, she has learned, often by trial and error, in the years since.
