Supermodels have been appearing in music videos for decades. Several uber models even got their start in music videos before they began booking fashion or commercial modeling work When supermodels appear in music videos, it tends to make the video much more popular than it would without their star power. The added bonus of a model starring in music videos is that not only will the musician’s fans want to see it, but the model’s fans will as well.

Gemma Ward in "Daughters"
John Mayer’s soulful hit “Daughters” required a star for its accompanying music video who was just as beautiful as the song, and that's why Gemma Ward was cast for the role. Ward was discovered when she was 14 years-old, and by 2004, she was the modeling world’s “It Girl” inspiring the “baby-doll” movement. In 2008, Ward took a break from modeling and didn’t return to the runway until 2014. In the meantime, she became a mother and had roles in huge films like Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, and The Great Gatsby.
Stephanie Seymour in "November Rain"
In 1991, supermodel Stephanie Seymour appeared in Guns n’ Roses video for “November Rain,” with her then-boyfriend, Axl Rose. Seymour, now 49, got her start in the modeling world when she was just a teenager. Since then, she’s appeared on the cover of Vogue several times, along with many other notable fashion magazines. She has been the face of Almay, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Christian Dior, Valentino, and more.

When Michael Jackson needed to cast someone to portray the famous Thutmose sculpture of Nefertiti, supermodel Iman was an obvious choice because of her almost uncanny resemblance to the queen. The video came out in 1991 and was a big hit.
