Throughout the 21st century, the popularity and technology increases in first-person war video games have become a cultural phenomenon in teens and adults. FortNite has an international following-turned-obsession for over 150 million players. This is the ultimate game of survival. Almost a mix between Minecraft and Hunger Games, where 100 players freefall onto an island and do battle until there is one victor (or team). The Call of Duty franchise has been popular with wargamers since the first Call of Duty in 2003. For nearly 15 years, Call of Duty has dominated the wargaming industry and still holds onto a large market share in the multi-billion dollar industry.
The first HALO came out in 2001 (Combat Evolved) from Microsoft. The most recent of more than 10 games from this series is Halo Wars 2. These are all battles of the future. There is flexibility for the user in handling missions. Lots of action with flying vehicles of the future, as well as extremely well-armed ground vehicles. Battling aliens is one of the more popular first-person shooter enemies in the business.
Destiny boasts one of the largest first-person shooter game communities today. Launched in 2014 to a mediocre response, it has since received many updates and is one of the more popular war games. Build your character and travel the universe shooting aliens as they try to attack you and your team.

Star Wars has a huge audience, young and old. In fact, this is known as one of the more laid back gaming communities out there probably for the reason of having an older clientele or just die-hard fans of the franchise.

In 2010, a high definition remix of the game was included in the "Limited Edition" PlayStation 3 version of Medal of Honor. Many history buffs love this type of first-person shooter game.
"Ghosts" are an elite group of specially trained Army Special Forces (Green Berets). This is a popular series starting in 2001 and still creating updates and new games as of 2017 (Ghost RECON—Wildlands). Players get to play highly classified roles as special operators of groups like SEAL Team SIX, Delta Force, SFOD-D, or CAG. Their role is not unlike other real-world special operations forces, in that their operations are kept highly classified.
